"I am an art teacher first. I may juggle other roles of being an illustrator, designer and artist, it’s teaching art that floats my boat, gives me the greatest joy. It’s when we are all making art together my kids and I, we exist in space where anything is possible- trees can be purple, people can fly!

INKtober

INKtober

inktober

Jake Parker started the INKtober initiative in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year.

The Rules are as follows:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it online

3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2016

4) Repeat

Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

Check out his INKtober page here !

Awesome Paintings on Leaves by Janette Rose

Awesome Paintings on Leaves by Janette Rose

Sometimes even the bounds of a notebook or a stretch of canvas can seem too constrained, the edges of a regular shape proving to be barriers rather than enablers of the artistic process.

So what does an artist do? Explore avenues beyond the traditional ones of course. Music Sheets with compositions listed on them, Leaves which have fallen during a fresh breeze during Autumn, maybe just a News Print article which caught your fancy these all open up a bevy of opportunities for your Art to extend beyond what you could have traditionally imagined.

Awesome Doodle Art by Lei Melendres (Philippines)

Awesome Doodle Art by Lei Melendres (Philippines)

What is a Doodle?

Wikipedia likes to define it as “A doodle is a drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes.”

We happen to think though that a doodle can serve as a conduit into a persons thinking at that point of time. Perhaps they were in a state of conflict and out came a random sketch depicting a battle field or perhaps the mood was more mischievous and abstract and resulted in a funny sketch with quirky characters.

Amazing Architectural Drawings by Ayşe Bakır

Amazing Architectural Drawings by Ayşe Bakır

Great Architecture is all around us, remnants of the past and deserves to be captured. They are the hulking masses of stone which have come together to be shaped in ways to leave a stamp of their architect on the earth for generations to come.

Artist Ayşe Bakır felt the same way and decided to capture it using some vibrant Letraset Promarkers and Pen’s in his work. The work pulls at the heart strings and awakens the stirrings of travel within us so that we may observe them in person someday. Till then however we must be content to only stare and sigh.

Reimagining the Zodiac by Damon Hellandbrand

Reimagining the Zodiac by Damon Hellandbrand

We are constantly living in a world of turmoil, the rock we inhabit constantly spinning from night to day and back again. The stars on the other hand seem to be mute observers, silently viewing the various human follies.

Perhaps this very nature of theirs to remain the same inspired our ancestors to see shapes in the sky and ascertain that we were influenced by them and that our destiny could be divined by them. Perhaps these groups of stars unmoving and yet mesmerising considered us their pawns in the chessboard of life.
