Plastic Paint Palette

A plastic paint palette is a great economical and long-lasting option for many different mediums including watercolor, oils and acrylics. They are light weight and easy to hold on for longer periods if required. A good plastic palette is always high-impact and durable. It's safe to use and easy to clean.

Wooden Palettes

Wooden palettes are historically the most commonly known and traditional type of artist palette. It is best used for oil paints. Go for a wood that doesn't soak in too much oil. Using wooden for acrylics isn’t recommended, as once acrylic paint dries up it is difficult to clean.

Disposable Paper Palettes

Disposable Paper palettes are sheets of smooth, non absorbent paper that comes in a variety of shapes and sizes with or without thumb hole. It's meant for quick and easy clean-up, as you can use one sheet at the time and throw it away when you are finished. Best used on the go or outside the studio. Otherwise it is not an environment friendly option, as it creates a lot of waste if used regularly.

Ceramic Palettes

The only palette surface that doesn't stain is ceramic. It wipes off with ease and is the latest favourite amongst artists. They are best for watercolours, but acrylic and gouache works well too.

Glass Palettes

Glass palettes are tempered with corner safety features that make it less likely to break. This palette is best for oils and acrylics as it's easy to clean and holds the paint in place. This palette option is intended to rest on a table rather than hold it in hands while working. It is pretty heavy compared to other palettes, and spacious to mix large amount of paints.
